It is strange to be talking about GTA 4 getting an update given how old the game is and the fact GTA 5 in it’s 9th year is still getting huge content updates. If there are any tweaks to the game that are more than than just backend security code changes then we will update the article here. This patch being related to code leak in that hack is formed from baseless speculation though.Īt the time of this article’s writing, no one in the community has discovered any noticeable changes to Grand Theft Auto IV: Complete Edition. You will find this information on the game. Some have speculated this patch was released in response to the Rockstar security breach that took place in 2022 which leaked gameplay of GTA 6. When checking the offers for Grand Theft Auto IV, make sure that the key is activated through the DRM of your choice. This makes this “security patch” an interesting one given there are no active multiplayer components. Not long after Rockstar Games released the Grand Theft Auto IV: Complete Edition on Steam and their launcher back in March 2020 they removed the multiplayer aspects of the game. The screenshot below shows some of the builds being put into Steam’s backend. It showed Rockstar Games have been developing and testing this update for some time.

Over the past few weeks and months we have been tracking Rockstar’s work on the update via SteamDB.
